I also decided to take a peak into the public tennis court area, which has three hardcourt tennis courts ready for use. As I looped back around on the walking trail from the south part of the park to the north entrance, I noticed the playground on the east side of the part is very clean & modern. There were also trees on the south end of the park that had small signs with dedications too. This is definitely a park for locals, as I encountered two bike riders, a small group of joggers, two other people walking like me, and a lady walking her dog.Īnother nice feature of the park is that it has lots of park benches too, all of which had personal dedications or remembrances on them. I also was impressed the park as a whole is very clean and well maintained, between the trail itself, the park benches, the playground area, etc. There are plenty of trees in addition to the open spaces, so it's a nice mix of park space. The pavement on the trail was in good shape, nice & smooth, and it took me around the baseball fields and into the other main section of the park, which is a large grass clearing with a couple bird feeders, with the walking trail hugging the border of the park. I quickly found the paved walking trail which started by the youth baseball fields, which were not in use at the time I visited. When you enter the park, it's easy to see why the park is so well hidden, because it's bordered by either tall trees or houses with their backyards bumped right up to the edge of the park, and as I found by walking around, there's even a small treeline with a farm field on the other side that serves as part of the park's south border. If you walk to Spindler Park like I did though, it was also a little challenging because there's no sidewalk on the northeast corner of Broadway and Spindler Park, so my recommendation is just walk on grass away from traffic. Parking is available on a long gravel lot next to the baseball fields along Spindler Park Road, which is easy to access. There are also about two entrances on the east side the park where city streets from a quiet neighborhood lead right into the park. Also, the sign along Broadway that has the park's name on it is very hard to spot because it's a small dark-colored wooden sign almost hidden by a tree on one side. You can't actually see the park from the main road, Broadway, that runs through the south part of Highland, and the turn off from Broadway onto “Spindler Park Road” is hard to see, because it looks more like an alleyway than an entrance road. Getting to Spindler Park is slightly challenging if you don't use GPS, or don't already know where it is. Spindler Park is a slightly hidden but neat & clean local park with a great walking trail, open spaces, a modern playground, public tennis courts, and more.
